Workshop on Harmonic Analysis on Algebraic Groups

The “Workshop on Harmonic Analysis on Algebraic Groups” was successfully held at the Tianyuan Mathematical Research Center from August 3 to August 9, 2025. The event was organized by Binyong Sun (Zhejiang University), Lei Zhang (National University of Singapore), Jia-Jun Ma (Xiamen University), Dongwen Liu (Zhejiang University), and Ning Li (Nankai University).

Aim:

The objectives of the workshop were threefold:

1. To explore cutting-edge developments in the representation theory of reductive groups over local fields related to the Relative Langlands program;

2. To create opportunities for fostering collaboration across diverse research areas within those areas;

3. To stimulate the formulation of new and significant open problems.

The main  scope of the workshop:

1. BZSV duality

2. Theta correspondence

3. Local non-tempered Gan-Gross-Prasad Conjecture

4. Relative trace formula

5. Test vector

Participants:

The workshop attracted 26 participants, including experts, postdoctoral researchers, and PhD students from institutions such as:

Beihang University

Beijing Institute of Technology

Capital Normal University

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Nankai University

Nanjing University

National University of Singapore

Peking University

Sichuan University

Singapore University of Social Sciences

The Chinese University of Hong Kong

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen)

The University of Hong Kong

Tsinghua University

University of Minnesota

Xiamen University

Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University

Zhejiang University

Summary:

The workshop facilitated substantive academic discussions on the designated topics, thereby strengthening collaboration and intellectual exchange among participants. It proved highly productive, owing in part to the warm hospitality of the Tianyuan Center and the high-quality platform it provided for scholarly interaction. Several collaborative projects were initiated as direct outcomes of the conference.
